Islamic Month Jamadi ul Awwal

Jamadi ul Awwal is the 6th month of the Islamic calendar. It is also known as Jamadi ul Thani. The translation of the name of this month is divided into two parts. ‘Jamada’ means dry land and ‘Thani’ means secondary. This month is preceded by Jamadi ul Awwal which means the first dry month.

Jamadi ul Awwal holds importance in Islam because of its historic events and different occasions. Our prophet SAWW reached the age of 40 and started His heavenly duties for Islam as a messenger of Allah.

  • 3 Jamadi ul Awwal: Death of Haroon al Rasheed.
  • 10 Jamadi ul Awwal: Shahadah of Ali Ibn-e-Talib (RA) during the ‘Battle of Jamal (Bassorah)’
  • 13 Jamadi ul Awwal: Death of Umm-al-Banin (RA), She was married to Ali Ibn-e-Abi Talib and mother of Abbas Ibn-Ali (RA)
  • 20 Jamadi ul Awwal: Birth of Fatima Zahra bint Mohammad (RA), She was the daughter of Prophet Mohammad (SAWW).
  • 22 Jamadi ul Awwal: Death of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA)
  • 10 Jamadi ul Awwal: Shahadah of Jaffer ul Tayyar(RA) Ibn-e-Abi Talib ul Mutallib.

This mosque was a church initially but it was rebuilt later on as a mosque. It was named after Bibi Maryam(RA) mother of Hazrat Isa (AS).
