حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَرْمِيُّ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، عَنْ مَعْنٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ مَسْرُوقًا: مَنْ آذَنَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْجِنِّ لَيْلَةَ اسْتَمَعُوا الْقُرْآنَ؟ فَقَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُوكَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّهُ آذَنَتْهُ بِهِمْ شَجَرَةٌ

Ma'n reported.. I heard it from my father who said: I asked Masruq who informed the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) about the night when they heard the Qur'an. He said: Your father, Ibn Mas'ud, narrated it to me that a tree informed him about that.
