حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ يَتَزَوَّجُهَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَعْطِهَا وَلَوْ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَيْسَ مَعِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَدْ زَوَّجْتُكَهَا عَلَى مَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ .

It was narrated that: Sahl bin Sa'd said: “A woman came to the Prophet and he said: 'Who will marry her ?' A man said: 'I will.' The Prophet said: 'Give her something, even if it is an iron ring.' He said: 'I do not have one.' He said: 'I marry her to you for what you know of the Quran.'”
