حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ وَهِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَااللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏جَمِيعًا عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا صَعْبُ بْنُ جَثَّامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا بِالْأَبْوَاءِ أَوْ بِوَدَّانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَهْدَيْتُ لَهُ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ فَرَدَّهُ عَلَيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا رَأَى فِي وَجْهِيَ الْكَرَاهِيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِنَا رَدٌّ عَلَيْكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَكِنَّا حُرُمٌ .

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said: “Sa;b bin Jaththamah told us: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed by me when I was in Abwa’ or Waddan, and I gave him some meat of a wild donkey, but he gave it back to me, and when he saw from my face that I was upset, he said: ‘The only reason that we are giving it back is that we are in Ihram.’”
