حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيُّ أَبُو يَحْيَى،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَبُو إِسْحَاق الْمَخْزُومِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ،‏‏‏‏ يُحِبُّ الْمَسَاكِينَ وَيَجْلِسُ إِلَيْهِمْ،‏‏‏‏ وَيُحَدِّثُهُمْ وَيُحَدِّثُونَهُ،‏‏‏‏ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَكْنِيهِ:‏‏‏‏ أَبَا الْمَسَاكِينِ .

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “Ja’far bin Abu Talib used to like the poor; he would sit with them and talk to them, and they would talk to him. And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave him the Kunyah of Abul-Masakin (Father of the Poor).”
