حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى،‏‏‏‏ وَزَيْدُ بْنُ أَخْزَمَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِلَالٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ أَبِي ثُبَيْتٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي الْجَوْزَاءِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ مَنْ مَلَأَ اللَّهَ أُذُنَيْهِ مِنْ ثَنَاءِ النَّاسِ خَيْرًا،‏‏‏‏ وَهُوَ يَسْمَعُ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَهْلُ النَّارِ مَنْ مَلَأَ أُذُنَيْهِ مِنْ ثَنَاءِ النَّاسِ شَرًّا،‏‏‏‏ وَهُوَ يَسْمَعُ .

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The people of Paradise are those whose ears Allah fills with the praise of people when they are listening, and the people of Hell- fire are those whom He fills their ears with condemnation when they are listening.”
