حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ مَرَّةً .

It was narrated that 'Uthman bin 'Affan said: I saw the Messenger of Allah performing ablution and he wiped his head once.
