حَدَّثَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْبَلْخِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَسَأَلَهُ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَحَدَّثَنَاهُ الزُّهْرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَنْبَسَةَ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ الْقُرَشِيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِخَيْبَرَ حِينَ افْتَتَحَهَا فَسَأَلْتُهُ أَنْ يُسْهِمَ لِي فَتَكَلَّمَ بَعْضُ وُلْدِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تُسْهِمْ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا قَاتِلُ ابْنِ قَوْقَلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْعَاصِ:‏‏‏‏ يَا عَجَبًا لِوَبْرٍ قَدْ تَدَلَّى عَلَيْنَا مِنْ قَدُومِ ضَالٍ يُعَيِّرُنِي بِقَتْلِ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَكْرَمَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَلَى يَدَيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يُهِنِّي عَلَى يَدَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ هَؤُلَاءِ كَانُوا نَحْوَ عَشَرَةٍ فَقُتِلَ مِنْهُمْ سِتَّةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَجَعَ مَنْ بَقِيَ.

Abu Hurairah said “I came to Madeenah when the Abu Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was in Khaibar, after it was captured. I asked him to give me a share from the booty. A son of Saeed bin Al ‘As spoke and said “Do not give him any share, Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. I said “This is the killer of Ibn Qauqal. ” (The son of) Saeed bin Al ‘As said “Oh, how wonderful! A Wabr who came down to us from the peak of Dal blames me of having killed a Muslim whom Allaah honored at my hands and did not disgrace me at his hands. Abu Dawud said “They were about ten persons. Six of them were killed and the remaining returned.
