Sunan Abu Dawood 944

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ الْأَخْنَسِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْأَبِي غَطَفَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ التَّسْبِيحُ لِلرِّجَالِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَعْنِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالتَّصْفِيقُ لِلنِّسَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَنْ أَشَارَ فِي صَلَاتِهِ إِشَارَةً تُفْهَمُ عَنْهُ فَلْيَعُدْ لَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَعْنِي الصَّلَاةَ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ وَهْمٌ.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Saying Tasbih applies to men during prayer and clapping applies to women. Anyone who makes a sign during his prayer, a sign which is intelligible by implication, should repeat it (i. e. his prayer). (Abu Dawud commented on the Hadith saying, this is a result of confusion. )
